Hip Baby Clothes
Posted by admin on October 21st, 2009 filed in baby clothes, wishlistComment now »
My mom and I recently had the opportunity to go baby clothes “browsing.” We went to South Park Mall in Charlotte, NC…hit up the Baby Gap, Gymboree, and some other mall standards. There were a couple of cute things, but by the time we left, I was a little discouraged by the options. It seemed like we’d need to choose between prevailing themes of airplanes, trains, and firetruck decals or some sort of biker kid wannabe flames and ye olde english scrolly affliction/UFC-style wear for our baby.
In reality, I want to dress him like a mini dude… a hip dude. Mini Jeff… with perhaps a few more colors in his wardrobe. Solids and stripes void of flame prints and decals of future occupations. Here’s what I’ve found so far:
Clothes from Sweden! Polarn O. Pyret
Retailmenot.com even has some coupon deals for up to 30% off!
I’ve decided to do some shoppin’ here as we get closer to the big day! Cute classic stuff.
Sckoon.com has some interesting stuff. I’m looking forward to digging in further here:
I’ll post more later as I find stuff. If any readers have suggestions, please post a comment!!
Night light

So, I saw this starry egg night light that has pin-prick holes in it to shine stars all over the ceiling of a nursery on one of my registry sites. It was a whopping $140…but I just love it.
Then, right as my baby shower invitations went out in the mail, it went OUT OF STOCK on the registry site. Curses!
So it prompted me to look around online…and low in the hole, I found it here for just $65!! Still, quite a splurge for a night light… but I just really like it.
Every evening can be a night under the stars with this beautiful, handcrafted ceramic nightlight. Shaped like a colorful egg, it has tiny pinprick holes that let out just enough light to create a dazzling starry-night effect on the ceiling of your child’s nursery. What a way to dress up a nursery!

Jeff’s Baby Name Suggestions
Posted by admin on September 29th, 2009 filed in family stuffComment now »
For years, I thought we’d decided on baby names. I’ve had three picked out – one girl, one boy, and one gender neutral for the past five years. Never once did Jeff express any disagreement with any of them. In fact, he was seemingly in full support and agreement.
Now that we know that we’re having a boy, Jeff has decided that he wants to explore some of his own ideas…after five years of silence. I will document them here…for posterity’s sake (and for what will surely be future entertainment).
- Sage
- Talen
- Thorne
- Stone
- Brick
- Eric
- John
- Zachius (I think hope he was joking about this one)
- Paige (?!)
I know people with some of the names listed above…not all, but some. The fact of the matter is – none of these names, in my opinion, are anything like us. They don’t carry any personal meaning, and, in some cases, convey the exact opposite of the kind of people we are. In other words, I think my husband and I may be from different planets in the baby name dept.
Prayers appreciated.
To keep things fair, I will document my list here, as well. It’s shorter…I’m pickier, and genuinely want to choose a name that has either strong family or spiritual ties. I think personal significance gives a name strength. Perhaps it’s because my first name is my mother’s maiden name and just happens to be somewhat gender neutral. I’ve always enjoyed it and think there’s an art to choosing baby names.
That being said, I will wholeheartedly acknowledge the fact that my name choices are somewhat unorthodox and may very well be laughable to some, as much as my husband’s choices are to me! Here we go…
- Sten/Steen
- Boone
- Mason
- Christian
- Piers or Pierce
Not that we’ll make a choice based on popularity or outside suggestions, but your feedback would certainly be entertaining! Comments/votes welcome.
